When I was a kid, my parents thought me to spend a few minutes every morning on contemplation and singing a mantra before I start my day.
Then in the evening we sang that same mantra together as a family before we all went to bed.
I didn´t know that they were planting gold in me back then.
Today, when you inquire about the daily routine of successful people, most of them have a morning ritual. . Why is that?
Let me share my perspective with you, based on over 25 years of experience with morning rituals.
Why have I been practicing a morning ritual for the past 25 years?
It first started as something my parents taught me. Then, when I left home I neglected my ritual for a while. In that time, my life was a mess.
Why is that a key to success?
Well, I believe that no matter what you want to achieve, if it is not aligned with the universe, you will fight a lot, but you will not succeed.
Through my morning ritual I tune myself everyday in and seek alignment with a purpose that is bigger than me.
There are more benefits to it. But first, what is a morning ritual?
What is a morning ritual?
To me, it is a routine with which you set the tone for your day.
It is not necessarly about waking up early. More than that, the goal is to put the control of how you live your day into your hands. And teh tone is set in the morning right when you wake up.
What can you cover during a morning ritual?
During the morning routine, you can address your body, your mind and Soul. Either you address all 3 or just a combination that suits you.
You can create your routine individually according to what matters to you.
For the Body you can:
- Take on specific drinks/food in the morning
- do wake up Yoga
- Stretch
- do other physical exercises
For the Mind & Soul:
- Morning journal
- Mind conditioning
- Gratitude exercise
- Prayer or other spiritual exercises
- Silent meditation.
- Meditation + chanting of a mantra.
- …etc
You also hear of different combinations of the above mentioned items.
I, for example, write down my dreams every morning. Then I do a gratitude exercise followed by a mantra and contemplation. Some days, depending on what I need, I do some mind conditioning.
What are further benefits of a morning ritual?
- You are the navigator of your morning during that ritual. Afterwards you are more in-charge throughout the day.
- You fill your physical, spiritual or mind energy household. You build your inner strength.
- You start your day feeling centered after your ritual.
- You build discipline that is requires to take on the routine everyday.
- It is a special me-time where you are focused on you and only you.
So, why do you need a morning ritual?
You take time to connect with yourself and to tune yourself with the universe.
