Hello my dear,
You might know that I am in love with Marie Forleo. She is one of the coaches and female entrepreneurs that inspire me a lot.
She hosts a show called MarieTV where she shares valuable advice on creating a life that you love (see link at the end of the post). On her last episode, she shared her learning from 5 years of hosting MarieTV.
Usually we all only see the glory and glitter behind success. This episode is a perfect example that success takes time.
I found her tips so useful that I couldn´t stand sharing it with every entrepreneur on earth.
Here they are
#1: Starting small leads to big success.
Sometimes we only see the big vision. We forget that it takes one step at the time to become a marathon champion.
This advice reminds me that I wanted to start making video blogs for a while. Because I know nothing about video making, I kept procrastinating. I also thought about hiring someone to do the videos for me. I want them to be super professional. Now I figure, I have enough people around me already who can give me advice. I need to get started:-)
#2 Consistency is not an accident
Yep. If you want to consistently work on something, you need to plan it carefully and stick to your plan. This goes for work but also for relationships. If you don´t make space for the things you want in your life, of course you will not have them.
I see that a lot in my business. The events I have consistently run over the past 2,5 years only happened because they were in my calendar automatically.
Also, for example, I love coaching and it is one of the ways I want to serve people. In my calendar Monday to Wednesday are dedicated to coaching and to activities that are related to my core business. I plan everything else in my work around that. Otherwise I will end up doing a lot of admin work and urgent work but no coaching.
#3 Get real used to Murphy´s law
Murphy´s law says that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. It is a warning to the perfectionists among us. No matter how madly you´ve planed things, something will go wrong. You´ve just got to deal with it and keep going with a smile on your face.
Have you ever organized an event and it turns out that the technique is not working? You know what I am talking about.
#4 You can´t make everyone happy and it is a loosing game to try
This one is for the pleasers among us. I totally count myself in sometimes.
How often have I asked myself whether it would be okay for X,Y and Z if I handled things in a certain the way?
Forget about pleasing everyone. You simply can´t. When you are making yourself happy, it is already a good start.
#5 Let yourself evolve
You grow with your business. It seems simple and logical, but it can be painful.
Especially when you run a successful business, your audience gets to know you in a certain way. When you change it takes a lot of courage to stay authentic to your new self. You might loose part of your audience who has become attached to what you have been doing so far.
Always stay authentic. The right people for you will follow you.
#6 Only work with the best
This is not a matter of budget. You want to get people who are best in their field complement your skills in business. You cannot do everything alone if you are building an empire. But having others do a bad job for you is worst than doing it yourself.
#7 Stay true to your vision: just because something is an opportunity doesn’t mean it´s the right opportunity for you.
Every time a new opportunity arises; you will have to check in with your vision. This is why you need to start with a vision. It is your navigator.
NOW It´s YOUR TURN
