Hello my dear.
Today´s post is not directly about business development. Why? Because life is not only about business, is it?
I love the topic of today. It is one of the essentials in life: FUN.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to have a blast??? What did you do?
I decided a few months ago to go to the color run. It is a 5km run that you can do timed or untimed. It has been nominated the happiest 5k on the planet. And now I can tell you that it is REALLY REALLY Fun.
However, it took me to overcome a few demons to go there.
If you are anything like me, you have a very bad relationship to sports. I stay away from gyms, yoga studios or anything that feels like sport (e.g. taking a walk).
So, when I announced a few months ago, that I was going to the color run my husband was really amused. I asked him, whether he thought I´d come out of the 5km run alive. He said,…“well you will, but you will be very soared for a few days“. I asked him how many days. He answered a few.
I thought, I would practice and then it will be okay.
Practicing didn´t happen though.
So, there I was at the color run. With no practice. After the first km I walked. Then I danced at every station where you get covered with color. I sang loudly to the great music they played at every color station. I was the color dancer & singer. I had a blast. And in between I run whenever I could. After all I was there to run, right? *twinkle
To be very honest, I struggled at the last minute. Friends I have asked to join the run had to cancel, except from my friend and travel blogger Laurel Robbins from Monkeys&Mountains. I thought I was crazy to go to a run in my condition.
The only thing that made me go there was to know that this was supposed to be fun. The happiest 5k on the planet. I didn´t want to miss it.
I imagined being the last person arriving at the finishing line. And that alone made me juggle.
PS: for the serious runners among us, go to the color run ONLY if you can stand going for a 5 km walk.
My friend Laurel has played a huge role in my decision to take this challenge. Often in life we feel that fun or adventure has to come from outside. But, Laurel is an advocate of finding adventure in your life here and now. She offers her subscribers a free guide on how to make everyday feel like a vacation. I recently signed up for her guide and discovered many ways to have fun right here where I live. Since then, I started to discover my current environment anew. Beside, I am more eager at challenging myself softly.
Are you having enough fun in your life? If not yet, don´t look too far. Start with things that are in your reach, now. Now is the time of your life.
